The Final Table!

At the end of a gruelling 16 hour day, at the end of a gruelling 6-day week, the field has been whittled down to its final 9 combatants.

Steven Garfinkle went home in 10th place and those who remain will be heading off to bed for some well earned rest on their day off.

There has been huge drama with huge swings in chip stacks throughout the day. Scotty Nguyen was short stacked for most of the past two days but built himself up to 3rd in chips with a couple of huge pots. His new found wealth seemed to upset his style however and he needlessly got involved in pots he shouldn’t have been playing. One hand in particular crippled him. His cards? The 3 and 4 of diamonds. He lost six million chips after catching a 4 on the flop.

One man who was delighted to see such shenanigans going on above him was Alex Kravchenko who quietly played with the smallest stack for a number of hours as players got knocked out all around him. Eventually, he got involved and two all-ins later he had doubled up twice! Although still the shortest stack he now has nearly 7m in chips. Philip Hilm tops the table with over 20m.

The following players will return on Tuesday to compete for the biggest price in poker - $8.25 million and the WSOP Main Event gold bracelet…

Philip Hilm, Tuan Lam, John Kalmar, Raymond Rahme, Lee Childs, Lee Watkinson, Hevad ‘Rain’ Khan, Jerry Yang and Alex Kravchenko.
