Bad Beats, Bubbles and more…
Wow, what a great weekend for Irish Poker!
Popular Irishman and 2005 Irish Open 7th place finisher Sylvester Geoghegan was in Lake Tahoe Nevada for the World Series of Poker circuit event where he finished in 4th place behind former WSOP Main Event champion Chris ‘Jesus’ Ferguson for a payday of $60k. This result carries on a fine run of form for Vesty who so far this year was Irelands top placed player in the WSOP Main Event where he finished 122nd, he also finished 13th in the $10k Pot Limit Omaha main event and 21st in the EPT Barcelona.
Corkman Paul Bracken has scooped the title and along with it a sterling 110k payday in the GUKPT Blackpool leg after defeating Paul Gardner in a tense heads up battle. Paul divides his time between his native Cork and Los Angelas where he plys his trade as a professional cash game player. Following this success the locals of Cork will be keen to welcome him home this Christmas. Well done Paul.
Closer to home Big Slick Event held their eagerly anticipated Big Slick Waterford 500 event over the weekend. When the dust settled a 4 way chop was agreed upon which saw Michael Trimby and popular Dublin man Thomas “The Bomber” Nolan take the lions share of e.29,500 and 24,500 respectively with Ian Whittey and James Kenney taking 15,000 and 11,500 for their troubles.
