Tim Blake Outplays Linton in a 600k Pot

It had to happen eventually. The two big stacks in the tournament finally collided in a fascinating duel.
Pete Linton raised to 56k in position and was called from the small blind by Tim Blake. Bear in mind that both held stacks of over 700,000 at the start of the hand.

The flop was Q>C 8>S 8>H and Blake lead into the raiser for 70,000. After some deliberation he got a call.

The turn of K>C went check, check.

The river of 4>C put a backdoor flush on board and Blake decided to check again. This time Linton bet 120,000. A quick call by Blake as both showed their hands;

A>H K>H for Linton’s two pair

K>D Q>S for Blake’s higher two-pair

Great play by new chip leader Blake once again and a fascinating pot that thankfully didn’t involve the words “Race” or “Coinflip”!

    To be fair to Linton (whom I don’t know), I fail to see how he was outplayed.

    i agree he hit the king and didnt push all in so in act it was prob an oppurtunity lost for blake and damag limitation by linton so a pot well played by him

    well ok maybe linton could have had a higher pair but it didnt seem likely the way the hand was played so an all in or flat call would be acceptable play. anyone agree or not??????

    Maybe ‘outplay’ is the wrong choice of words but I think Blake got the maximum extracted out of the hand in a pot that could easily have crowned an absolutely huge chip leader if all the chips had ended up in the middle.
    He’s been playing great all day, as has Linton. I’d say they will both make the final table with a bit of luck.
