Irish Open: good for your poker health PLUS Caption Competition returns!

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Did you realise the Irish Open is good for your health?  Your poker health that is!  Yep, recent Irish Open final tablists include Peter Eastgate (IO 2007) and Marty Smyth (IO Champ 2007), who between them won the two most important WSOP tournaments this year.  Sorrel Mizzi and Roland De Wolfe also made the IO 2007 final table and have done well for themselves since!

Edwin Tournier, who final tabled last March, today final tabled the Lido Masters Classic €6000 Main Event in Amsterdam, while Eric Larcheveque, who was knocked out in 8th place this year took down $50,000 this summer in a $1,000 event in the Bellagio in Vegas, taking out our very own Noel ‘BCB’ Hayes in the process (who, let’s not forget, managed a magnificant 35th in the Irish Open 2007!) :)

So get to qualifying!  This year you could be in with a chance to snag the €100,000 Sole Survivor package - what’s not to love about the Irish Open 2009?

Next up; the return of the Caption Competition!  One lucky player will win a $22 token to the ECOOP III Main Event Stage 2 Rebuy feeder tournament; what is 3rd placed finisher at the IWF, paddypowerpoker.com qualifier John Raftery thinking while on the final table a few weeks ago?

Remember to leave your poker nickname so I can credit your account if you’re the winner!

Good luck at the tables this weekend, whether you’re playing cash or trying your hand at Irish Open, ECOOP III or some of the big prizepool tournaments here - see ya next week!

1st Irish Open super sat and APAT team championship coverage

Well, it’s fun being back in the office after a weekend and more away for the IWF!  But all good things come to an end, I finally can catch up on some sleep and of course get to go out and enjoy a night on the town away from poker players for a while :)

With the day and night that’s in it, we’re running wild with our Let’s R.I.P! promo - it’s made up of two parts, firstly we’re running 6 $2 + 20c speed rebuy tournaments every two hours from 2pm to 12pm and adding $66 to each and secondly if you hit quad sixes on the cash tables today we’ll pay you 66 times your big blind, up to a maximum of $666.  Spooky, eh?!  Well, check out the promo page for more info and register for the tournies now!
This weekend, in addition to all the big guaranteed tournaments scheduled, this Sunday sees our very 1st Super Satellite for next April’s Irish Open.  Now with our Sole Survivor promo, we’re already getting loads of interest in this, so hopefully we’ll see more than one $6,500 package on Sunday - with the prospect of an additional €100,000 dangling in front of you, it’s worth doing your damnest to get to the IO and be in with a shot!  I’m honestly bummed that I can’t play in this  :(

Also, we’re sponsoring the Irish team in this weekend’s Amateur Professional Association Tour European Team Championship - see Fatboydim’s post below for more details.  If you want to follow all the action, please check out the live update links on the APAT home page - come on, you boys in Green, the best you’ve ever seen, they’re about to make history, way off in Bri-ghtony - hmm, that doesn’t really work, does it! :)
