Poker Blog - Irish Winter Festival 2009

There are currently 80 players left in the IWF  Super Satellite, with blinds at 600/1,200 and average stack is 18,500.  There are 50 seats to be won, so I’m thinking it will be over by half one?

I won’t get a list of winners tonight (I had hoped I would) and may not have this until tomorrow evening, depending on when winners register for the Irish Masters Main Event!

I’ll be back tomorrow afternoon, ably assisted by AdMMM and Darragh and helping out on the live stream commentary with the illustrious Emmet Kennedy!  Peace out homeschools!

Yep, we have a winner!  Derek Thorpe of Newbridge has won the Paddy Power Poker Pro final table and wins the €60,ooo package!

Derek is a 26-year old who currenly lives in Blessington, Co. Wicklow and is mainly an online player - so a big live result like this must have been thrilling for him to achieve!

The big tournament clock shows 122 players left - but in walking from there back to my computer, I’ve heard at least 6 dealer shouts of ‘PLAYER DOWN!’ - we’ve added some cash to the IWF Super Sat prize pool, so will have 50 winners in total making it through to tomorrow’s €1,650 Irish Masters main event

Right, another update from the IWF Super Satellite - there are 173 players left, so about 125 players to be knocked out before it’s all over for the night!  I should have a list of winnings in the early morning.
